Nautical Kingdom: Mermaid Lagoon

One of two family areas located in the park, this area brings guests to the nautical world of The Little Mermaid. With two areas, the land and sea, guests can immerse themselves in the world of the film. While this may not be the most thrilling area, it is a good area for little kids.

When walking over from the Fortress Explorations, guests first see the spires of Atlantica. In front of it is where guests can find a spinning ride called Scuttle's Shufflers, where guests are pulled by crabs around a beach area. Then, they can go inside Atlantica, where an indoors area is. This is where they can find the kiddie rides Jumping Jellyfish, a small drop tower, Blowfish Balloon Race, a spinning balloon attraction, and The Whirlpool, a teacups-style ride. Also here is Ariel's Playground, a kids' play area, and Ariel's Grotto, where guests can meet Ariel. Sebastian's Kitchen is a restaurant while Whoosits and Whatsits is a gift shop.

Going around Atlantica, guests come to the "land" portion of the area. Here, guests find bridges to Ancient Delta and Arabian Coast as well as a border to the Marine Life Institute. When entering the section, they enter a Mediterranean village, home to Les Poissons and the Village Market. The key attraction here is located near Prince Eric's castle. This is where guests can ride Voyage of the Little Mermaid, an extended version of the ride found in Disney's California Adventure and the Magic Kingdom. Inside Prince Eric's castle, guests can eat with the princesses at the Palace Dining Room.

When deciding on a family area, I looked into what Disneysea already had. One thing they had was an indoors area with kiddie rides themed to The Little Mermaid, so I took that idea and expanded on it by adding the land section. While it may be more for little kids, I do think this is an improvement from past versions of this I had.

  1. I love this! I think it’d be very popular. It’d be really cool to add in an aquarium of sorts somewhere in the sea area too.
