Cinematic Kingdom: Hollywood Gardens

Hollywood comes to life in this area. Here, guests can walk down two streets in two gardens, and they will find many great shows and rides too! This is also their gateway to the other immersive worlds of the park, so they'll definitely come through here.

When entering through the gates, guests enter a town square recreating 1920's Los Angeles. On the right is Studio Hall, where guests can find help and services. On the left is Mickey's of Hollywood, the largest store in the park. Going down the street, guests can find Oswald's Cafe and Alice's Emporium on the left and Disney Bros. Ice Cream and Silly Symphony Store on the right. At the edge of the street is the Hollywood Brown Derby on the left, as well as a recreation of the Carthay Circle theater on the right. This theater houses Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. Beyond this street is a large garden with a recreation of the Los Angeles Train Station in the center of it. This theater is home to Walt Disney: A Dreamer's Tale, an audio-animatronic show about Walt Disney. On the left side of the garden is the entrance to Worlds of Pixar while on the right side is the entrance to the Kingdom of Arendelle.

Going down another street, guests can find two experiences. On the left is Disney Junior: Live! while on the right is a meet-and-greet location called Stars of Hollywood. Going further down the street, guests find Hollywood and Vine, Animation Academy, and The Darkroom on the left and Broadway Bites, Tangled: Live at the Hyperion, and Through the Decades on the right. This street leads guests into a second garden, where a golden statue of Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney, Roy Disney, Steve Jobs, Jim Henson, George Lucas, and James Cameron sitting together on a bench is seen. Around the gardens is where other experiences are found. In the southeast corner of the garden is a Muppet area, home to an updated version of the 3-D show called Muppet vision 3-D: Muppets on Broadway. It is also home to a gift shop called Muppet Mementos. In the southwest corner is Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, a version of the ride with new sequences. Also there is Star Wars Launch Bay, where guests can see props and meet Star Wars characters. Both attractions exits into Launch Bay Cargo. In the northwestern part of the area is The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which is similar to the Orlando version of the ride, even though it keeps the mirror scene from the former California version. It exits into Tower Hotel Gifts. 23 Street Produce is a nearby dining area. Finally, in the northeastern corner is Rock'n'Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith. This is a lot like the ride in Orlando, but with a different storyline and experience. The ride exits into Rock Around the Shop. On the left side of these gardens is the entrance to Galaxy's Edge, while the right side has a passage into Pandora.

When doing a park about movies, my mind immediately went to Hollywood when coming up with a hub area. It's a timeless location where movies are often associated with, so it makes perfect sense to have it there. And I had no trouble coming up with what I wanted in the area, even though some attractions were debated over. I know that Star Tours could go with Galaxy's Edge, but I wanted to preserve the immersive feel in GE because it is fixed in one point in the Star Wars timeline while Star Tours jumps around to many points across the saga. I also had some debate over including Rock'n'Roller Coaster, but I decided to include it anyways.

  1. There is actually a lot to do in this hub area! Tell me more about that statue. I can’t figure out the Steve Jobs connection.
